Great QUICK seafood and fresh...

Mar 10, 2015 by

Just a fun experience a great family owned fish market and fish restaurant. You will find the grandkids working around the place.

Been many times and always good

Have used for dining, take out as well as buy fresh and cook at home many times over the years and we always have had good luck. Wish it was closer to home!

Best fish in the area

Feb 18, 2015 by

City Fish has the freshest fish of any fish market in the area. The cuts of fish, shell fish etc are second to none. If you need to buy fish this is the place. There is a restaurant portion but the real draw is to purchase your fish and cook at home

Really enjoyable visit.

This is a real cool place to visit. When's the last time you saw a guy order a 7 pound fresh lobster? Well, I did today, here at City Fish.

The building is immense -they have a large fish market selling pretty much anything that swims in the water, and a "to go" store that sells freshly cooked fish and chips and the like.

Between the two places is a gigantic apartment complex of lobster tanks where the guys are sorted by size. The kiddies will be entertained watching them get scooped out of the tanks .... waiting for their inevitable kicking and screaming rendezvous with a boiling cauldron of salted water on your kitchen stove.

We picked up some seafood yesterday - a half pound of Bay Scallops ($8.99 a lb), some delicious fresh cooked shrimp (a hefty $18.99 a pound), a half pound of cleaned calamari ($6.99 a pound), a half pound of freshly made crab and shrimp dip ($8.99 a pound), and a pound of mussels at $2.99 a pound. Twenty six bucks for everything.

The counter was very crowded, and at first I wasn't sure if it was a line or a mob or what. Then I saw they had a number machine, so you grab a number, and wait for then to call you. It gave us time to peruse the large refrigerated counter, and check out some of the fish packed in ice on two sides of the counter. There's also a big display of spices and breadcrumbs and whatever you need to complete your meal. They even sell lemons.

The guy who helped us was great. He offered us a taste of the dip before he scooped our container. I heard another counterguy educating his customer about the fresh and farmed and wild and what that all means.

We had the shrimp and some dip last night. The shrimp was just terrific- fresh, sweet, plump -just perfect. $19 a lb for shelled and cooked was OK by me. The dip was very good with lots of shrimp.

I really enjoyed my visit - a fun, entertaining place to see all the hustle and bustle.

And the seafood looks and tastes great.

Did Not Disappoint!

You have to love this place more for its vast selection of seafood items, however; prices are steep but quality does have its cost. I picked up a 1/2 pound of Norwegian salmon the likes of which was beyond anything I had experienced before. The salmon was from Norway's Faroe islands known for harvesting extraordinary salmon quality and it surely did not disappoint. The price point was $3.00/Ib more than Pacific or USA Atlantic salmon, after one bite you will know and taste the remarkable difference. If you are looking for a treat and are a salmon lover this should be high on your list to try.

Just Amazing!!!

Best place to get your fresh seafood on Xmas eve. Get ready to wait in line.

My stomach is happy!

I've tried lobster roll, shrimp cocktail, clam chowder etc, they're awesome. Lobster roll is a little expensive compared to some other place I know, but none of the others has much more lobster meat than this one, my stomach is very happy with place and always reminds me to come back again

Only fish fresher is still uncaught!

Here you order your food in the market and then either take it to go,or,move to their pleasant dining room to sit down and enjoy it still piping hot.
We split a fish and chips dinner since the portions are ample. The dining room is clean and attended by a friendly woman who can also serve you beer. It's a great alternative when we don't feel like driving to the shore for fish.

Great Fish Market and more...

At City Fish in Wethersfield, you can buy your lunch and enjoy it there in their dining area. If you are in the mood for wine or beer they are happy to serve you in their dining area. Before you leave be sure to check out their great fish market for something to cook later. Enjoy.
