Reasons to Eat Fish for Breakfast
Unless you’re from New York, the idea of eating fish for breakfast may sound foreign. Even though fish is a breakfast staple in countries around the world from England to Japan, it isn’t considered a breakfast food in most of the U.S. Maybe it’s time to change that. There are many health benefits to starting your day with a serving of fish.

Many fish are excellent sources of antioxidants such as selenium, Asthaxanthine and Taurine. Research suggests that these detoxifying agents prevent free radical damage to cells and may protect against age-related degeneration of your body’s organs.

Research shows that starting the day with a lean protein rich meal can reduce your risk of developing Cardio Vascular Disease. Fish are lean and pack a lot of protein. They are also easier to digest than other animal proteins.

Fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which can reduce inflammation and decrease the risk of heart disease. Studies suggest that getting enough omego-3s can reduce hypertension and may help ease conditions such as chronic renal failure, atherosclerosis, ischemia, ventricular tachyarrhythmia, and thrombosis.

Getting enough vitamin D can be especially hard at this time of year when the sun is rarely out and the cold keeps you indoors when it is. Fish is one of the only dietary sources of vitamin D. It is also rich in other fat-soluble vitamins that your body needs like vitamin A, vitamin B and riboflavin.

Quiche is a perfect choice if you’re rushed in the morning. You can make it the night before and quickly nuke it in the morning.
Fried Fish & Egg Breakfast Sandwich
If you’re used to starting your morning off with a breakfast sandwich, you can swap out the sausage or bacon for fried fish. Nicely seasoned it can be a new twist on an old favorite.
